We start our cruise experience meeting you at Pythagorio, a little fish village of Samos with traditional middle age alleys and small coffee shops, named after the locally born ancient mathematician and philosopher ” Pythagoras”.  Pythagorio has an unstopped history of 3000 years, being a powerful nautical state around 530 BC under Polycrates tyrant, having great ancient buildings, like Eupalinian aqueduct, a tunnel of 1.036 m length, built in the 6th century BC to serve as an aqueduct (the second known tunnel in history which was excavated from both ends, and the first with a geometry-based approach in doing so) and its port considered to be the oldest man-made port of the Mediterranean Sea. After our welcome coffee at Pythagorio, announced by UNESCO as a town of global cultural inheritance, and a small brief on our SUPER rib boat, one of the BEST in its class, we board and ready to cruise to Aegean Sea.

We cruise 22nm west to Arki Island and after approximately 40 minutes we have a long stop to enjoy swimming and the sun at Tiganakia, an amazing tropical bay with clear turquoise waters. Pleasant in its own way the beach is in a slight cove and separated into three parts by rocky outcroppings and part pebbled – part sandy.

Religious aspect: Continue cruising for 11nm and 30 min. to Patmos Island, where used to be the center of Orthodox religion and mentioned in the Christian scriptural Book of Revelation. The book’s introduction states that its author, John, was on Patmos when he was given (and recorded) a vision from Jesus and in his prologue says: “I dwelled in an island of which name is Patmos, as to preach the word of God and have faith in the martyrdom suffered by Jesus Christ“. Early Christian tradition identified this writer John of Patmos as John the Apostle.  As such, Patmos is a destination for Christian pilgrimage. Visitors can see the cave where John is said to have received his Revelation (the Cave of Apocalypse), and several monasteries on the island are dedicated to Saint John. Do not miss visit them.

In the year 96 AD, the Evangelist Saint Jean the Theologue was banished in Patmos by the emperor Domitian for preaching the Gospel at Ephesus. Therefore was built a monastery in his honor at the town of Patmos, worth to see it.

Explore the narrow & traditional alleys of the main town of Patmos and become one with the vibes of the island. Enjoy lunch between a wide option of restaurants or traditional tavern.  Don’t miss dessert and coffee watching the amazing view of Aegean Sea before getting on board again and return to Pythagorio.
