We start our cruise experience meeting you at Pythagorio, a little fish village of Samos with traditional middle age alleys and small coffee shops, named after the locally born ancient mathematician and philosopher ” Pythagoras”.  Pythagorio has an unstopped history of 3000 years, being a powerful nautical state around 530 BC under Polycrates tyrant, having great ancient buildings, like Eupalinian aqueduct, a tunnel of 1.036 m length, built in the 6th century BC to serve as an aqueduct (the second known tunnel in history which was excavated from both ends, and the first with a geometry-based approach in doing so) and its port considered to be the oldest man-made port of the Mediterranean Sea. After our welcome coffee at Pythagorio, announced by UNESCO as a town of global cultural inheritance, and a small brief on our SUPER rib boat, one of the BEST in its class, we board and ready to cruise to a complex of almost 20 islands and islets.

We cruise 22nm west to Arki Island and after approximately 40 minutes we have a long stop to enjoy swimming and the sun at Tiganakia, an amazing tropical bay with clear turquoise waters. Pleasant in its own way the beach is in a slight cove and separated into three parts by rocky outcroppings and part pebbled – part sandy.  We also have a stop at Makronisi Island for a fast jump at the clear waters.

History: In 1087, Saint Christodoulos became owner of Patmos and the island of Arki was used by the Monastery as farming land and pasturing ground. Today’s inhabitants of the island may be descendants of the farmers and shepherds of the Monastery that still owns great part of the land.  The feast held on August 23rd for Virgin Mary offers to the visitor the genuine Greek character with traditional folk music and local dishes.  On that day, all taverns gather all their tables and chairs to celebrate together until dawn.

We continue to Marathi Island (2nm – 5 min.) which seems to emanate total tranquility. With only two families living permanently on the Island, each operates their traditional taverns in a true Native Greek style.

We either have lunch break at Marathi or if you prefer at Arki main port, Porto Augusta (1nm – 4 min.).

Next destination 5nm – 10 min away is Aspronisi Island with a beautiful white sandy bay for sunbathing and clear blue waters for swimming.

Lipsi Island 5 nm – 10 min from Aspronisi is our next stop, ideal for peaceful vacation, with beautiful landscape and friendly local people. Feel the calm atmosphere of the island and relax walking around the main port and the little village. The inhabitants of the island refer to mythology as it was the place itself and not the Witch Calypsos which enchanted Ulysses, making him deviate from his route on his return to his kingdom Ithaca island.

Weather permitted we have our last stop at Makronisi island 2nm southern of Lipsi main port. The breathtaking cave and the crystal blue waters will amazed you. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling and exploring before the sunset comes down and we return to Pythagorio.
